An Update from Strategy and Corporate Services - 24 October 2025

Marjan Hajjari

It’s been wonderful to welcome Rachael Bragg as our Chief People Officer over the past two weeks. Rachael’s extensive experience in human resources and organisational development is evident, and what’s stood out most to me is her calm presence and the considered way she’s approached every matter from her very first day.

While we welcome Rachael, we also farewell one of our progressive leaders, Nicole Rudden. Nicole is leaving her role here to take up the position of CEO at Yarra Plenty Regional Library. In her 18 months with us, Nicole has achieved an extraordinary amount and made a lasting impact on our organisation. She will be greatly missed.

The Strategy and Corporate Services Directorate celebrated its commencement this week. Through team conversations and collaborative exercises, two strong commitments emerged, that we will be Collaborative and Supportive.

Please stay tuned for further updates on how this newly established directorate will assist you as we continue to strengthen our role as the bridge between community vision, action, and delivery.

Annual Report 2024-25

On Monday 13 October the Annual Report 2024-25 was unanimously endorsed by Council. This report reflects the collective effort, dedication, and professionalism of so many people across our organisation, from those who deliver services directly to our community, to those who enable, support, and guide this work behind the scenes.

It is a great summary of all the year’s highlights from the programs and activities we deliver every week to our infrastructure projects and the festivals and events that celebrate our community throughout the year.

I am very grateful for the incredible effort everyone has put into this important piece of work which is now live on our website. Please take the time to read this and reflect on and be proud of all the achievements when you have a chance.

Council is the custodian of Assets for our local community

Council recently endorsed the Asset Plan 2025-35 which sets out our investment in assets over the next 10 years.

Nearly all work and decisions in Council involve an asset of some type, from software and equipment to larger structural requirements in our offices and venues.

If staff are interested, you can find out all the capital projects that are planned for the next 10 years for your work area in the plan. This not only gives certainty to officers as to what projects are coming up and enable better planning but also shows why some projects are unable to be invested in, at this time.  This plan is reviewed yearly.

This level of transparency is important for the community to understand why some projects will go ahead in their area, and others not.

The Asset Management Team is a useful resource to you in regard to assets and making sure you have the right resources for your team to work for the community. Visit the Asset Management webpage to read more information.
