The Local Government Act 2020 now prescribes that a relevant person (Councillor, Delegated Committee Member or Council officer) must disclose a conflict of interest in the manner prescribed under the Act and in accordance with Council’s Governance Rules. A relevant person must exclude themselves from the decision making process in relation to the matter including any discussion or voting on the matter at any Council meeting, Delegated Committee Meeting or any action in relation to the matter.
A relevant person can now have a general or material conflict of interest. The form of interest is briefly summarised on the reverse side of the form that must be completed prior to any meeting being attended and is available at the following link.
