Personal Interests Returns

The Local Government Act 2020 and its associated regulations require that you complete an Initial Personal Interests Return after becoming an elected official, and Biannual Personal Interest Returns thereafter in March and September of each year.  The purpose of Personal Interests Returns is to encourage disclosure and increase transparency.

Pursuant to sections 133 and 134 of the Act, all Councillors and nominated officers are required to complete a statement of their Interests. Such a statement must be in the prescribed form and lodged with the Chief Executive Officer.

Irrespective of the date the last Initial Return was submitted, Biannual Returns must be submitted by a Councillor or a nominated officer twice a year: between 1 and 31 March and 1 and 30 September.

An Initial Personal Interests Return form will be provided for you after election.
